Начал вплотную разбираться с текстом «Танцора» на основе варианта Vel’а. И правда, Vel, ты во многом оказался прав. Но кое-что, и не мало, остаётся не ясным.
На данный момент получился нижепредставленный очень сырой рабочий вариант.

Groaning like a shadow wanting to stay
пока ничего лучше groaning по звучанию сюда не подходит. со смыслом особых проблем не вижу: groan = стонать, тяжело вздыхать, охать, завывать и т. п., но никак не рычать (growl).
